11/6/2016 What role did Keith Beauchamp and Stanley Nelson play in the re-openingof the Emmett Till murder trial?

Keith Beauchamp is a 32-year-old Brooklyn filmmaker who first became obsessed with Emmett Till more than 20 years ago when he came across the famous Jet magazine photograph of Till’s dead body. He has traveled the country, showing his unfinished documentary, “The Untold Story of Emmett Louis Till,” mostly at colleges, and has met with law enforcement officials, wanting them to reopen the case.

Stanley Nelson is a 52-year-old documentarian. His Emmy-winning film, “The Murder of Emmett Till,” was broadcast on PBS in 2003. A week after this film was broadcast he was awarded the Peabody Award. At the screenings of the film he wanted the people to send postcards of where Emmett Till was killed to try to influence the attorney general of Mississippi to reopen the trial.
